According to Complex Mag Collegiate Cardigans are a must have for Spring 2010. They are versatile and can also be worn in other seasons. Complex shows their list of top 12 cardigans and where they’re available.

Classic Stripes, one of my personal favorites, have also been revived this spring. Stripes can help you create at the “nautical” look. A new season means its time to look for new outerwear. Spring jackets are very ideal because they can be layered so you can stay warm in this unpredictable weather we have during the spring time. Utility Jackets and Denim Jackets are good choices; try to invest in a good quality jacket that will last you over the years. Try stores like Gap, H&M, and J. Crew.

The L.L. Bean Boot, better known as the “Bean boot,” is a great essential to have for all seasons. This boot is insulated for the rougher winter months but also a great boot to transition into spring for those “April Showers.” This is definitely a boot that people of all styles can appreciate. Biker Jackets: Complex Mag has officially named biker jackets as the new “it” garment. I think it’s a cool accessory to have to help give off a more edgy look. (available at Urban Outfitters and Diesel)

Trench Coats: I know normally most people associate trench coats with business men, but I have been seeing a lot of fly guys wearing these with their casual ensembles as of late. I definitely believe this is a bold fashion statement, so try it out see how you like. I think they would look especially nice with the Polo Boots everyone has been rocking lately. (available at J. Khaki Pants: Hey guys give your denim a break for a little while this spring. Khaki pants are neutral and can be worn with just about anything just like your jeans. They pair nicely with the denim shirt I talked about in a past Fresh Friday post. (available at Ralph Lauren, J. Crew, Banana Republic)

Reality the Don and I went on a mini shopping outing yesterday and it inspired this week’s Fresh Friday. The Tailored look is a new trend for spring 2010. Nice fitting suits, dress slacks that fit a little more slim and can be worn casually.

A nice pocket square is always a good way to complete the look. Writers in GQ magazine suggest mixing plaids and checks into your rotation. They pair nicely with a solid dress shirt.

Brightly colored and bold striped ties are also a good choice to pair with your nice tailored suit this spring.

Try stores like H&M, Express Men and J.Crew to achieve this look.

Fresh Friday 2.12.10

Introduction: This week’s segment of Fresh Friday is dedicated to all men’s accessories. Usually most men don’t think of the types of things they can accessorize with, other than their shoes or a cool belt. And then most of the time you can barely see either of the two. Reality the Don and I have come up with some cool accessories that men should consider when putting together their look.

Scarves: scarves are another accessory that adds a nice finishing touch. They can be worn for more than just keeping warm in the winter. It gives you a chance to give off that “Hollywood” look.

Headphones: I decided to include headphones because there are so many options out there that people don’t know about. (And because I knew Reality would really like this) I’m sure most of our male readers have some type of iPod, Zune or music player in their basics they like to have with them all the time. It’s nice to have something different than the typical ear buds.

Suspenders: Suspenders are no longer just for grandfathers and nerds. They offer a way to create a unique look for the style conscious young man. I prefer them in more formal settings or with business attire.

Duffle Bags: This is not quite the typical metrosexual “man bag,” but I thought this was a cool accessory it can be used when going on trips or something to keep all your basics in and keep in the car.

Watches: This is another accessory that majority of men are wearing, so why not try to get creative and find a non-traditional, casual watch that you can wear everyday. You can switch them out with a dress watch or other casual watches.

Glasses/Personality Frames: I can remember being a kid and pretending like I could see because I didn’t want to wear my glasses. I didn’t want to get made fun of. Now you see fly guys like Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi wear glasses or personality frames. It’s a nice addition to any gentlemen’s outfit.

Bow tie: the sight of bow ties has declined recently but the bow tie is one of my personal favorites on a man. Some may believe that if worn they will not be taken seriously. But the bow tie is a nice way to do something other than the norm when dressing up or it can be worn casually when out and about or to a particular event other than an after 5.

Thermals – Fellas I think you should give long underwear a second thought. I know it may seem a bit juvenile, but they can come in handy especially during this cold weather. Some designers have even perfected thermals enough that they can stand alone. You could also wear them under a cool pullover hoodie with jeans. (available at American Apparel and H&M)

Utility Jacket – Military style, utility jackets are one of my personal favorites on men. They look very chic especially when worn with a nice scarf. They’re also heavy enough that they can be worn with layers in the fall/winter but can transition in the spring as well. (available at J. Crew, H&M, American Eagle)
