Twilight star Robert Pattinson has revealed he is terrified of clowns after a traumatic incident at the circus when he was a child.

The 24-year-old actor said he was turned into a coulrophobic after a family outing to the Big Top ended with the death of one of the clowns.

And now, despite playing the fearless vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight film series, Robert admits he hasn't been able to shake his phobia.

He told America's Today Show: 'The first time I went to the circus somebody died. One of the clowns died.

'His little car exploded. The joke car exploded on him. Seriously. Everybody ran out. It was terrifying.'

And Robert isn't the only famous coulrophobic - Johnny Depp and P. Diddy have previously admitted being irrationally scared of the beings.

Meanwhile, Robert, who is currently promoting new movie Water For Elephants, also revealed to U.S. TV host Ellen DeGeneres that he was once suspended from school because he tried to stop other children from killing snails.

The actor also had his beloved Top Trumps cards confiscated and his teacher threw all the saved snails in the bin, he said.

Awkward? Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon posed for pictures on the red-carpet for the premiere of their new film, Water For Elephants, at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City


After already complaining about getting intimate with Twilight star Robert Pattinson this week, Reese Witherspoon was once again forced to cozy up close to her younger co-star tonight.

The pair shared an uncomfortable cuddle as they posed for pictures on the red-carpet for the premiere of their new film, Water For Elephants, at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City.

The awkward embrace comes after the 35-year-old actress revealed that her steamy sex scenes with the 24-year-old were anything but enjoyable.

Reese described her kissing scenes with the Twilight hunk as 'unpleasant'.

'He had a very runny nose,' she told MTV, adding: 'It wasn’t appealing. It wasn’t pleasant.'

Reese, who married talent agent Jim Toth last month, offered her co-star some advice for his future kissing scenes too.

'Bring a Sudafed,' she joked.

Reese could barely force a smile on the arm of Robert, who had his arm wrapped around her waist.

The duo appeared more comfortable when they posed with their co-star Hal Holbrook, who plays the older version of Pattinison's character.

Regardless of their lacklustre chemistry, the two co-stars looked equally elegant for tonight's occasion.

The recently married actress also showed off her wedding band set, which she received from Toth when the pair exchanged vows only weeks before.

Robert, who is rumoured to be in a relationship with his 21-year-old Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart, looked dashing in a checked charcoal suit with a white shirt and burgundy tie.

While Kristen wasn't on hand to escort him down the red-carpet, the handsome British actor did have his two older sisters, Victoria and Lizzy Pattinson for moral support.

'New Moon' Press Conference

New Moon press panel at Comic-Con with Rob Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, and, boy, was it exciting!

While Summit Entertainment did not permit any personal questions, that didn't stop the crowd from trying!

One ballsy reporter asked about the off-screen chemistry between Rob and Kristen, to which Kristen laughed and replied, "Are you kidding me?" The question was sadly thrown out—not like they would have answered anyway.

They did, however, spill some good juice on the Twilight sequel. That's what we really want to know...right?

When asked about his own personal relationship with the movie, Rob revealed, "I found myself kind of bizarrely invested in the story. I've got more and more attached to it. I've been talking about the script for Eclipse over the past few weeks and I find myself being argumentative."

He adds, "Bella ends up saving Edward like she does in every book. I find it funny that the hero is always being saved by the damsel in distress."

How does New Moon compare to Twilight? Taylor said its "double the action," while Rob revealed, "It's a completely different mood."

Sadly, Rob won't be showing off his musical talents on the New Moon soundtrack. While he contributed to the Twilight soundtrack, he's sticking to straight acting for this one.

What about Kristen? How has her life changed since last summer? Always the elusive one, she replied, "I cut my hair off."

Shakira Wants to Make Beautiful Music With Robert Pattinson

Shakira recently sat down with MTV.com and, while discussing the vampire movie Twilight, hinted that she just might have a little thing for Robert Pattinson.

"I love Twilight," Shakira gushed to interviewer Tim Kash. "I can't say what I love about Twilight."

When asked if her love for the movie might have something to do with a certain tousle-haired Brit, the singer offered a very revealing denial.

"No, no, no," Shakira replied. "I'm too old. I can't say those things. I mean, how old is he—23? 24?...You are going to get me into trouble."

Despite her protestations, the 32-year-old warbler does admit that she'd like to get with RoPa—in a musical context, of course.

Asked if she'd like to collaborate on some tunes with the actor, who dabbles in music and contributed to the Twilight soundtrack, Shakira noted, "I've heard he's a great singer and a great musician. If those rumors are true—yeah, of course, why not?"

Some of the teen girls were hysterical and Rob rushed across the road. As he did so, a taxi grazed him. The cabbie slammed on his brakes as soon as he realized what had happened. It appeared as if the cab hit Rob in the hip. He stood there for a moment looking stunned. The bodyguard next to him checked if he was okay and then screamed at the fans: "You see what you did, you almost killed him!"

Robert Pattinson Parties the Night Away With Eva Mendes

OK! Magazine reports that Twilight stud Robert Pattinson—who's currently in New York preparing to film the romance Remember Me—had a grand old time with Ghost Rider beauty Eva Mendes on Wednesday night.

Pattinson and Mendes—along with that included R-Patts' buddy Tom Sturridge and his Twilight co-star Elizabeth Reaser—hit up the Bowery Bar at about 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, whooping it up with Peroni beers and pizza.

According to witnesses, Pattinson, cloaked in a black hoodie, frequently ducked away from the party to make phone calls and have a smoke outside, though he did find the time to tell a blonde lass in their party how having a British accent scores him points with American girls. (Really, dude? You think it's the accent that's doing it for you?)

Somehow, despite being in close proximity to one of the biggest heartthrobs of the moment, Mendes seemed more interested in his buddy Sturridge—a witness reveals that the two "were chatting non-stop and laughing the whole time."

Twilight star Pattinson goes low-riding in Interview magazine, exposing his briefs for the camera. But RPattz goes on to expose so much more in the accompanying interview.

Recalling his early years trying to break into show-biz, Pattinson describes a period when he used to live in a "cool little ex-crack den" in London with his buddy Tom Sturridge. "We spent the -better part of a year just getting drunk every night," Pattinson says. "I don't know if that counts as ‘struggling.' "

Rob Pattinson's good friend Sam Bradley performed at Vancouver nightspot Richard's on Richards on Saturday night, and boy, did things get heated!

Wearing a hoodie that covered his signature, tousled locks, RPattz cheered on his pals in a backstage corner, standing next to his co-star and rumored love-interest Kristen Stewart. Looking like he was having the time of his life, Rob kept whispering to Kristen and, at times, looked like he was about to kiss her.

While Rob has repeatedly laughed off rumors of a possible romance with Kristen, the couple seems to be more than just friends when they're caught off guard by the ever-lurking super-fans and paparazzi.

"I was kind of crossing lines of what I thought I was comfortable doing. I had to do all this naked stuff," the actor tells GQ magazine of his work in Little Ashes, where Rpattz plays a young Salvador Dali.

The film follows the love affair between Pattinson's Dali and poet Federico García Lorca, played by Javier Beltrán.

"And here I am, with Javier, who plays Lorca, doing an extremely hard-core sex scene, where I have a nervous breakdown afterward," Pattinson says, "and because we’re both straight, what we were doing seemed kind of ridiculous."

"There’s all these gay sex scenes. And y’know, I haven’t even done a sex scene with a girl, in my whole career."

For his love scenes with Beltrán, Pattinson felt overexposed to production staff.

"Trying to do it doggie-style. Trying to have a nervous breakdown while doing it doggie-style. And it wasn’t even a closed set. There were all these Spanish electricians giggling to themselves."

He had been laying low - real low.

This time he was spotted again at a SoHo pub in London for open mic night.

We're told Pattinson was there with some friends and performed two songs which apparently "silenced the room" with how good he was.
