Rouge Bunny Rouge Eyes Wide Open Brightening Liner Duo

I take full responsibility for this little fiasco. I have reasonable reading comprehension skills and should have known better. But I was looking for a solution for bunny eye days and Rouge Bunny Rouge is fast becoming one of my favorite brands so I added Eyes Wide Open, the  Brightening Liner Duo, to a Zuneta order a few months ago and hoped for the best. I never use a white eyeliner on my waterline- it looks unnatural and does nothing to improve my eye situation. I liked Rouge Bunny Rouge's idea of using a flesh-tone liner instead. The problem is that my flesh is not petal pink.

You can see where this is going.

Eyes Wide Open Brightening Liner Duo has two sides. The thinner pink end is for use on one's waterline, to make it less red and open up the eye. The thick white pencil is for brightening the inner corner. Both have a cool satin finish that would probably work well for the pale and pink-toned among us. Unfortunately, I'm not in that category, hence a frosty pink disaster. I didn't like the white brightener any better. Between the starkness of the color (the swatches don't betray how bad it was on my face) and the thick consistency of the product, it was not the best option for my inner corner. A touch of gold, ivory or sheer peach wash works better on me. The one white eye shadow I use these days is Burberry and it has a certain glow that the Rouge Bunny Rouge pencil lacks when it comes in contact with my skin.

The good news is:
 1)  Last week I actually found the perfect eye brightening pencil for those of us who don't do pink. Details coming soon.
 2) Rouge Bunny Rouge has so much other great stuff to offer I don't hold a grudge.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Eye Shadow Duo A Major (038)

Because one can't have too many gorgeous neutrals.

The full name of this Rouge Bunny Rouge item is Long-lasting Duo Eye Shadow - When Birds Are Singing- A Major/fis Minor. That's quite a mouthful for a small compact of two deceivingly unassuming colors. One is a pale golden beige/sand that's very hard to describe and doesn't swatch very well but gives the brow bone just enough highlighting. The other is a shimmery cool taupe or mauvish brown that brings depth and definition. It's a very elegant combination and the finished look is the definition of polished.

I don't know if those whose skin tone is darker than my sort of-NC35 would be satisfied by this Rouge Bunny Rouge combo- there are probably several single eye shadows that would have more impact. But if you can wear these colors you'll find the quality, texture and finish utterly sumptuous. I wear the A Major duo over a primer (Kanebo Sensai) and despite the subtlety it doesn't fade or crease. When I want to add a little more definition or drama I add an Edward Bess eye shadow (Dusk works especially well, as does Intimate) in the crease and close to the lash line or a touch of Le Metier de Beaute Corinthian.

Bottom Line: perfection.

Rouge Bunny Rouge Lip Gloss- I Have My Honey (053)

Rouge Bunny Rouge is a niche European brand that has been getting a lot of online buzz and a cult of fans. I've heard about it from readers and bloggers, so you can imagine how thrilled I was when this Gleaming Temptation Lip Gloss in I Have My Honey (#053) arrived at my door. First, behold the feminine packaging. It's extra useful when a tube of lip gloss is different enough to stand out in my drawer so I don't need to waste time searching for a specific one. But Rouge Bunny Rouge is more than its cute tube.

The Gleaming Temptation Lip Gloss is hydrating and comfortable to wear. It stays on nicely without migrating, smearing or fading (until lunch, that is). Even a sheer and nude color such as I Have My Honey is nicely pigmented and gives the lips a healthy radiance and plumped up look. This specific color is a lot more complex than I expected. No. 053 is a warm mauve with tiny coppery particles that don't cross the line into glitter territory (unlike the somewhat similar LORAC 3D I reviewed earlier this week). It looks beautiful over a nud(ish) lip liner or on top of light rosy colored lipsticks (or this one from Youngblood Cosmetics, that I've been wearing a lot lately).

Bottom Line: My wishlist is already a mile long.
