If you’ve ever watched Star Trek, you’ve no doubt noticed that their keyboards and such are all flat surfaces. This helps give it the futuristic look that we have come to appreciate over the years. With tablets, we can simulate that same look, for certain applications. However, if you’re looking for an actual keyboard like this, you’ve only got one option: the Cool Leaf keyboard.

This special keyboard uses a capacitative touch panel in place of physical keys. This is the same technologies used in many tablets and touchscreen phones. It also makes use of haptic feedback technology, which makes it vibrate slightly when a key is touched, so you know when a key has been pressed. I can’t say how useful it would be to actually type on, as opposed to a regular keyboard. On the bright side, it is much easier to clean, as it takes just a wipe to do so. The $320 price is enough to make sure that most people will happily stick to their trust old keyboards.

Google's April Fool Joke ‘Gmail Motion’ Turns into Reality by Institute for Creative Technologies

The newly introduced Google’s ‘Gmail Motion’ is nothing else than an April Fool joke. Google claimed that with this ‘Gmail Motion’ services user can control Gmail user interface with the movement and gestures of his body. The claim was just unbelievable; but when any user clicked on the "Get the Gmail Motion" he came to know that he became the victim of April Fool joke.

But this joke by Google stimulates the guys at Institute for Creative Technologies and they worked out something real out of this April Fool Joke. 

They are demonstrating their solution in the video - the Software Library Optimizing Obligatory Waving (SLOOW) - and show how it can be used with a Microsoft Kinect sensor to control Gmail using the gestures described by Google.

Iran's Humanoid Robot 'Surena 2' Listed in World's Top 5 Robots

Hamid Taahbaz Tavakkoli, the secretary of development and technology institute of Iran's Industries and Mines Ministry, told that Surena 2, the humanoid robot made by Iran, has been included among the top five outstanding robots of the world after assessing the performances of the world's advanced robots by ‘Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)’.

According to recent report issued by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE); the performances of the robots Asimo (Japan), Reem-B (Spain), Justin (German), Charli (US) and Surena (Iran) were assessed, Mr Tavakkoli added.

He further told that the Association tagged Surena as an "unexpected development."

Surena 2, which weighs in at 45 kilograms and is 1.45 meter high, has a total of 22 degrees of freedom: each leg has 6 DOF, each arm 4 DOF, and the head 2 DOF.

A mind-meltingly horrific song called "Friday," sung by Rebecca Black; managed to rack up more than 2.2 million views on YouTube (yes, that's right, TWO-MILLION, TWO-HUNDRED-THOUSAND) just over this past weekend.

As I’m the latest viewer of this video on Youtube, at the time of writing these lines, the viewers count has reached to almost 3.5 million (3,412,997 exactly).

The Celluon EvoMouse is a rather clever little gadget that does away with the need for a mouse and replaces it with a laser beam mousemat which reacts to your finger movements. Could be very neat for those with RSI problems too, we guess. And what about handwriting recognition and signatures etc? There’s no official word on pricing, but I seem to remember seeing a target retail of between $70 and $90.00.

Cat comes out at last from the bag of Amanda Seyfried, who admitted to dating Ryan Phillippe. It might sadden lot of her fans but rumour is confirmed by none other than herself at last on the eve of premiere of her new movie Red Riding Hood in Hollywood.

The video also contains a few shots from the trailer for Red Riding Hood which looks far sexier than the fairytale we used to hear in our childhood. 

We wonder if other children’s stories will get the same sexy make-over? Maybe there should be a remake of Pinocchio where he doesn’t just become a real boy but a total hunk? We’d watch that.

Phosphor Reveal: First Mechanical Digital Watch - - Tells You Time With the Movement od Crystals (Video)

Though there may be a lot of interesting watches out there, I’ve got to say that I like this one the best. Mainly because it makes clicky noises when the time changes, but it has a really neat concept.

The American watch brand Phosphor has a wristwatch out named the Phosphor Reveal, and is the first mechanical digital watch that uses Micro-Magnetic Mechanical Digital technology.  That’s likely a giant tongue twister made up by the company, but it still sounds pretty neat.

This watch is both for the ladies and the gents as it has colors ranging from pink and white to black and gray. Using Swarovski crystals and an electrical pulse, the crystals will turn on their side to “reveal” themselves or disappear. Thus giving you the time of day. It is an awfully expensive timepiece seeing as its $199 and only at selected retailers, but I’d still buy it just to listen to the sounds it makes when the crystals turn. Time has never been more interesting and sparkly.

2011 Geneva Auto Show - Special Fiat 500 With a Touch of Gucci Style Set to Be Launched

Fiat 500 was first produced in the 50s and it pioneered a style revolution when it first came on the road. From the exterior it will continue inside on the seats, on the gear shift, on the key cover and even on the carpets. The seats will be two toned in Frau Leather with Guccissima print.

The SoloWheel is the smallest and most convenient people mover that I’ve seen to date. It runs off of rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, and has a compact design with two folding foot platforms. This is very lightweight at only twenty pounds and has a two hour battery life, with need of a 45 minutes charge to be at full battery. Leaning forwards and backwards will control your speed so that you aren’t relying on a switch by your feet. There is a handle to make toting this around a lot easier.
