Hear A Clip Of Pet Shop Boys' New Single "Together"

A clip of the new Pet Shop Boys single "Together" has been put on YouTube by Parlophone—which thankfully means this won't get yanked down within a few hours.

Produced by Tim Powell, formerly of Xenomania, the snippet certainly seems have the trademark bounce and swagger that once made the production house so prominent.

Lyrically, the chorus of the song at least seems to infer that "Together" falls into the same category as "Miracles," (i.e. one of the two then-new singles on Pet Shop Boys' last greatest hits collection, PopArt)—that type of uplifting dance-pop jam that extols the virtues of the singer's loved one.

But overall, it's only 30 seconds we really get to hear—though what a good 30 seconds—so further analysis will have to wait for the time being.

End Of The Road For Alex Gardner?

Truly deserving of an ear-shattering out-loud OMG! is the news of the chart placing for Alex Gardner's latest single "Feeling Fine." In fact, yesterday when I was writing the UK chart roundup post, I looked for where the Xenomania protege's latest came in at, but couldn't find it.

Turns out that's because, as the fine folks at Xenofansite tweeted today, "Feeling Fine" limped in at #140. And here I was lamenting the #44 placing of "I'm Not Mad" back in April!

Bad decision to go with the mediocre "Feeling Fine" as a single, when really everything depended upon a surefire hit after "I'm Not Mad" failed to crack the Top 40.

Maybe those in charge should have opted for moody jam "Heartbreak"—though that one doesn't really scream "smash," either, does it? Sigh.

Not Sure How I'm Feeling About Alex Gardner's "Feeling Fine" Video

Alex Gardner will get another shot at UK pop stardom when his single for "Feeling Fine" is released Septemeber 27th. Here's the music video, which the Xenomania News blog notes was shot in Spain (unlike "I'm Not Mad," which Alex had to fly to Los Angles for to find just the right shiny walls):

This isn't to be confused with Ultrabeat's 2004 dance hit "Feelin' Fine," which, let's face it, was kind of a jam.

It's hard to tell if Alex's "Feeling Fine" is a jam yet, though. The vocals on the chorus are a bit too liquid and Auto-Tuned for me to truly love this one right off the bat. In the springtime, Gardner said in an interview of his upcoming second single, "It’s got to be perfect or it will haunt me for the rest of my life!"

Strange that this doesn't appear on that Italian EP of his songs that's being released (or is already out?).

Listen To The Alex Gardner EP

Handsome Xenomania-groomed teen Alex Gardner has an EP that's being released in Italy on July 13. Hopefully this isn't a case of his planned album being scrapped in lieu of this sort-of release!

The four songs that leaked off his sampler in early February are present here, as are two new jams: "I Wanna Be With Her" and "You See With Me"—the latter of which has a gorgeous middle eight that kicks in at the 2:33 mark and is a return to straight-up brilliance for the Brian Higgins crew.

Unfortunately, you can't hear that part in the EP megamix below. But you can hear full versions of all the songs over at MTV Italy.

1. "I Wanna Be With Her"
2. "Yesterday's News"
3. "There Goes My Heart"
4. "I'm Not Mad"
5. "You See With Me"
6. "Heartbreak"

Kylie's Got 'Attitude' And "Heartstrings"

Kylie Minogue is on the cover of the July issue of British gay mag Attitude. I tried finding it today at the Borders in Hollywood, but all I could scrounge up is that issue of Rolling Stone with Lady Gaga looking pretty sketchy on the cover. So I sat and read half of that interview while I chowed down on a turkey burger.

And "Heartstrings," Kylie's Xenomania-produced Aphrodite bonus track (Japanese edition only, folks) leaked today, too. How the eff is this hot shit not on the regular version? They should have just scrapped "Looking For An Angel" or "Cupid Boy" in lieu of this one, in my opinion.

It's Kylie Minogue's 'Aphrodite' Bonus Track "Mighty Rivers"

We're literally one week off from the release of Kylie Minogue's 11th album Aphrodite. And with "All The Lovers" firmly lodged in the UK Top 10 for a second week, along comes "Mighty Rivers," the Xenomania-produced bonus track that will appear on the "Deluxe Experience" Edition of Aphrodite.

Why the hell this was relegated to being a bonus track is beyond me, but it certainly makes the deluxe edition all the more special. Enjoy!
