Justice, Essential Mix Live on BBC's Radio 1 June 10, 2007 click here for tracklisting or check the comments section
This is the big one. I don't need to tell you how much I love Justice, the French electro duo who have repped Ed Banger, Paris and all things good for the past few years. This is a huge week for the boys - Xavier and Gaspard- as their first full length LP drops on Ed Banger Records in the US. I won't be posting any tracks here, as I've already put up their music in the past, you know it's the shit, just go out and buy the CD or record. I know that you can find all of the tracks online and that other blogs have given it away, but fuck them. Spend like $15 and support two of the most talented artists around today. Help them buy bigger cars with huge rims made out of milk and honey. Head to Turntable Lab for some cool pre-order deals, or buy from Insound or hell, even amazon. Let's try to get make this the biggest selling dance record of the year!
Okay, enough haraunging, more dancing. Quite honestly, this might be the best essential mix I've heard yet. It's a real mix, taking you from one vibe to another throughout, never rushing those changes. It mixes old and new, from classic disco to Justice's contemporaries like SebastiAn. They include some great French-language tracks, which is gold to my francohpile ears. You can check the comments section for the tracklisting and see what's up. I'll just say that this is summer music, this is happy music, I've been listening to this one all weekend when I've felt sad or unhappy and it puts a smile on my face. It'll make you forget for two hours the war, the ex, the job, whatever and I can't really think of a better compliment. As one of the songs on the mix (Chic's "Dancing Music") says, "Music never lets you down/It puts a smile on your face any time and place." Hope everyone enjoys and has a great week ahead.
