Fashion at the Met Costume Institute Gala

Stars of film, fashion, television and music were at The Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Costume Institute Gala last night which honoured the late, great, Alexander McQueen.

Naomi Campbell (who's made it onto a few worst dressed lists) said of him: ‘He was a very sensitive, very instinctive and intuitive person - private and a very affectionate and lovely man. He was a monstrous talent.’

Naomi in Alexander McQueen

Celebrity attendees included SJP, Gisele, Rihanna, Jessica Alba and Beyonce and Jay-Z who were booed by photographers for failing to stop for extra pictures!

We’re more interested in who did stop!

Jennifer Lopez in Gucci. The colour looks gorgeous on her. The shoulders take the floral trend to a new level!

Rihanna in Stella McCartney. As usual she shows a lot without showing a lot. Not sure about The Little Mermaid inspired hair.

Beyonce is curvy perfection in Emilio Pucci. It looks really tight - how did she walk? Or breathe? The things we do for fashion! Feeling Jay's lo 'fro.

Tamara Mellon, Thandie Newton (who never looks bad) in Stella McCartney with Freida Pinto in Chanel.

Kerry Washington in Escada. Gorgeous dress and we love the 80's inspired hair.

Solange in Dries Van Noten. Umm...we like her hair. That's it.

A very serious Ciara in Prabal Gurung. Beautiful, beautiful dress.

Alicia Keys in Givenchy. Too much brown drowns her and the jacket brings the dress down.

Eva Mendes smoulders in Stella McCartney. This lady certainly knows how to work a red carpet.

Rashida Jones underwhelms in Stella McCartney. It's not a bad dress, it just doesn't have much wow for an occasion as wow worthy as this.

Zoe Saldana in Calvin Klein. Simple and elegant and love the easy waves in her hair.

Janelle Monae in The House of Chanel. We're getting a bit bored of this look now.

Iman in Stella McCartney. She looks stunning but we don't recommend matching your outfit with your hair.

Jennifer Hudson in Vera Wang with Vera Wang. It's a little bridesmaid'y.

John Legend and Christine Teigen. A little too 'showgirl' for us but fitting for an event like this we suppose.

Nicole Ritchie in Jason Wu. Very 'old Hollywood'.

Joan Smalls in Tom Ford looks supermodel perfect.

Serena Williams in Oscar de la Renta. Could have worked sans the hat.

UK Chart Roundup: Why Haven't Lady Gaga And Beyonce Scissored Yet?

Lady Gaga had better get crackin' with that "Judas" video, since the single plunged from #9 to #23 on the UK chart like a stripper in an upside-down split who just eyed a roll of nickels at the bottom of the pole.

Annoyingly, House Of Dereon's Main Wig Beyonce managed to find enough tone deaf fans to purchase her single massive fail single "Run The World (Girls)" to send it up from #18 to #11. One of those things I'll just never understand, I guess.

Adele's 21 is the top album for a 13th non-consecutive week.

The UK Top 10:

1. "Party Rock Anthem" - LMFAO *3 weeks*
2. "The Lazy Song" - Bruno Mars
3. "On The Floor" - Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull
4. "Beautiful People" - Chris Brown feat. Benny Benassi
5. "Sweat" - Snoop Dogg
6. "E.T." - Katy Perry feat. Kanye West
7. "Unorthadox" - Wretch 32 feat. Example
8. "Guilt" - Nero *new*
9. "Fast Car" - Tracy Chapman
10. "Buzzin'" - Mann feat. 50 Cent

U.S. Chart Roundup: Beyonce's "Girls" Runs Off Track And Head-On Into A Wall

Following the pattern of her previous single "Firework," Katy Perry's "E.T." returns to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a fourth non-consecutive week after a brief chart-topping interruption last week by Rihanna and Britney Spears' remix of "S&M."

Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" was performed by American Idol contestant Haley Reinhart last week to rather positive effect; the hopeful crooner managed to survive another week on the show, and Adele's single climbs to a new high of #2, matching its UK peak position. Likewise, Adele's 21 ballad "Turning Tables" debuts at #63 after a performance of it by Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee.

Two other artists from across the pond make slight advances this week on the Hot 100: Tinie Tempah is up one position to #13 with "Written In The Stars" while Jessie J's "Price Tag" also climbs one to #23.

This brings us to Beyonce's depressing (by her standards) debut at #33 with "Run The World (Girls)." The single went on sale at iTunes late last week and sold 77,000 downloads by Sunday evening. By comparison, Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" sold 448,000 downloads between its Friday release day and the following Sunday in February, and it debuted at #1.

Granted, Lady Gaga is the hot new pop broad on the block. But by that token, Britney Spears moved 411,000 copies of "Hold It Against Me" in its first week of release in January. That single also debuted at #1.

Two weeks ago Gaga's second Born This Way single "Judas" entered the chart at #10 after initially selling 162,000 in only two-and-a-half days.

I guess what I'm saying is this: Beyonce, girl, time to get a new weave.

On a related note, Kelly Rowland's Jim Jonsin-produced "Motivation" moves up one to #54, proving that the Real Talent From Destiny's Child is back to reclaim her wig.

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "E.T." - Katy Perry feat. Kanye West *4 weeks*
2. "Rolling In The Deep" - Adele
3. "Just Can't Get Enough" - The Black Eyed Peas
4. "S&M" - Rihanna feat. Britney Spears
5. "Down On Me" - Jeremih feat. 50 Cent
6. "The Lazy Song" - Bruno Mars
7. "On The Floor" - Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull
8. "Look At Me Now" - Chris Brown feat. Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes
9. "Blow" -Ke$ha
10. "Fuck You" - Cee Lo Green

Olivier Rousteing - New Designer at Balmain

The speculation can finally end, Olivier Rousteing is the new head designer at Balmain.

Olivier Rousteing

Since Christophe Decarnin left earlier this month over strategic disputes with chairman Alain Hivelin and amid rumours over his mental state, many a name has been banded about as his replacement. But Balmain have confirmed that  25 year old Rousteing, currently in charge of womenwear at the label, is to step into Decarnin’s formidable shoes.

Decarnin took Balmain from a creaky, aging label into a white hot brand loved by models, fashionistas and celebrities. His ripped jeans sell around the £1000 mark and his exaggerated shoulder jackets have been copied from runway to the high street.

Olivier Rousteing has a large shadow to step out from and we wish him all the best!

nce takes a romantic stroll with husband Jay-Z in Paris (in six-inch platform heels)

By Daily Mail Reporter

Sky-high: Beyonce took her Christian Louboutin 'Lady Daf' platform stilettos out for a romantic stroll with her husband Jay-Z around Paris yesterday

Beyonce opted for style over practicality as she headed out of a romantic stroll through the streets of Paris while wearing one of the highest designer heels on the market.

The pop star slipped into a pair of Christian Louboutin 'Lady Daf' stilettos - which feature six-inch spindly heel and two-inch hidden platform - has she joined Jay Z for a sight-seeing tour around the city.

Incredibly, the 29-year-old showed no signs of discomfort in the vertiginous Mary-Janes.

Instead she was too busy gazing into the eyes of the 41-year-old rap music mogul.

The loved-up couple smiled and laughed as they took in the breathtaking sights of the French capital.

Dressed for the Spring climes, Beyonce wore a mix of pretty pastels, slipping into a pair of beige shorts and matching top, a pale blue shirt and a butter-soft pink leather jacket.

She accessorised with the beige platforms and shaded her eyes with some orange-rimmed sunglasses.

Husband Jay-Z went casual for the occasion in some jeans and a simple white T-shirt and matching trainers.

The stroll was the last for the pair, who later headed to Charles de Gaulle airport to jet out of the European country.
But not before yet another costume change for the jet-setting couple.

While Beyonce retired her platforms for the the flight, she still couldn't resist slipping on another pair of stilettos, this time in blood red.

Her in-flight fashion was more casual, with the singer slipping into some loose tartan trousers and a loose fitting white printed vest.

She accessorised the look with some fashion forward shades and a snake-skin tote.

Fans went into a frenzy when the diva made her entrance at the airport, with crowds
of Parisians snapping away with their cameras eager to get a snap of the star.

But the star is not universally loved it seems, TMZ reported today that she is alleged to have caused 70 people to lose their jobs just before Christmas.

A video company called Gate Five filed papers in New York today which claim that the 'morally reprehensible' singer pulled out of a game called Starpower: Beyonce.

They go on the record to say that Beyonce made a 'extortionate demand' for money long after a deal was already in place.

The company are looking for compensation in excess of 6 million after her decision led to the job losses just ahead of the festive period.

Meanwhile, there has also been speculation that the singer has undergone breast augmentation.

Beyonce certainly looked fuller in the chest department when she modelled a skimpy black top in the city on Saturday, and even exhibited a telling crease underneath her bust.

Knowles was in Paris with her husband while she working on new material for her upcoming album.

Happy: The love-up couple smiled and laughed as they took in the breathtaking sights of the French Capital

Besides work, she had been spotted enjoying a trip to Disneyland and dining out with her other half.

The couple arrived in Paris on Monday morning and headed straight over to the Hotel Le Meurice, where they were reported to be spending a staggering $20,000-a-night on a penthouse suite.

According to America's People.com website, the pair were staying in one of the hotel's best suites, which comes complete with a kitchen, dining room and a massive terrace overlooking the hotel's famous Tuileries Garden.

Jetting off: The stroll was the last for the pair, who later headed to Charles de Gaulle airport to jet out of the European country

It is decorated in a nineteenth-century style, with private elevator access, sitting room, walk-in closet and bedroom with a bathroom in exquisite Italian marble.

And as well as their suite, Beyonce and Jay-Z were also thought to have hired a separate hotel room which they have packed with audio equipment so Beyonce can continue working on her next album.

She was also said to have made plans to record a new track with Kanye West, as well as possibly recording the video for the song as well.

Fan fare: Fans went into a frenzy when the diva made her entrance at the airport, with crowds of Parisians snapping away with their cameras eager to get a snap of the star

After recently parting ways on a business level with her manager father, Matthew Knowles, Beyonce is working on a comeback after a recent break.

Knowles masterminded his daughter's career since her days in chart-topping U.S. band Destiny's Child.

It has also been reported that Beyonce could perform at the Royal wedding reception of Prince William and Kate Middleton this week.

Beyonce In Paris

I'm not a Beyonce fan and usually feel she's a beautiful woman who doesn't do herself any favors, style-wise. But this Marc Jacobs outfit (from his Fall 2011 collection) was the perfect choice for Beyonce as she went out for an Easter Sunday lunch in Paris (lucky girl!). It's both fun and classic, complementing Beyonce's perfect figure while not showing any unneeded skin. Lovely (even if I think she could use a little more eye makeup and a little less hair color).

Beyoncé swaps her cleavage-baring outfits for a ladylike polka dot number

By SARAH BULL

Ladylike chic: Beyonce opted for a flattering polka dot dress as she went for lunch with husband Jay-Z in Paris today

She's opted for a couple of incredibly revealing outfits during her time in Paris so far.

But today Beyonce decided to change up her style, stepping out in a flattering polka dot dress which highlighted her curvy but slim figure.

The dress, which the singer teamed with a pair of sky-high black heels and a doctor-style handbag, is in sharp contrast to the previous ensembles Beyonce has been wearing.

Flattering: The dress, which the singer teamed with sky-high black heels and a doctor-style bag, highlighted Beyonce's newly slender frame

After shooting photographs for Harper's Bazaar magazine wearing a black and red sheer dress which displayed a huge amount of side cleavage, Beyonce stepped out for lunch yesterday in a plunging jumpsuit which again left little to the imagination.

Beyonce and husband Jay-Z arrived in Paris on Monday morning and headed straight over to the Hotel Le Meurice, where they are reported to be spending a staggering $20,000-a-night on a penthouse suite.

Revealing: Beyonce had been wearing very revealing outfits, including a black and red dress on a Harper's Bazaar shoot, and a plunging jumpsuit out for lunch yesterday

She is also said to have made plans to record a new track with Kanye West, as well as possibly recording the video for the song as well.

It's also claimed that Beyonce will be recording a track with Rihanna for the new record.
A source told music website M is for Music: "Rihanna has wanted to work with Beyonce for some time now and, after talking about a duet at this year's Grammys, they have finally managed to set aside some time to record together.

'The song will feature on Beyonce's album and will be a number one smash hit for sure.'

Loved-up: The pair have been celebrating their third wedding anniversary while in the French capital, and look happier than ever

UK Chart Roundup: Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)" Is A Disastrous Flop

Beyonce's return with new material is off to a disastrous, Christina Aguilera/"Not Myself Tonight"-esque start. Indeed, House Of Dereon's Main Wig's single "Run The World (Girls)" has decidedly landed with a loud thud akin to a drunk hooker falling into a decrepit chicken coop and sending feathers in the air.

The wreck of a song flopped out of the iTunes Top 10 here in the U.S. a mere two days after its release, and now the single has limped into the UK chart at #18. Time will tell whether or not "Run The World" has any legs—but my guess is that some trash ballad or more mainstream pop jam will be rushed out ASAP (a la the tactic used when it became apparent from the get-go that Xtina's Bionic was going to tank harder than the Titanic last year), and Camp Beyonce will try to pretend that this flimsy dud never happened.

Elsewhere, 23 years after first peaking at #5 across the pond, Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car" appears on the chart at #4 following Michael Collings' audition on Britain's Got Talent.

Is this gonna be some thing where the show's producers try to market this guy as another Susan Boyle? Because he doesn't have even a quarter of SuBo's sex appeal.

Over on the UK album chart, Adele's 21 returns to the top, after its initial 11-week run at #1 was interrupted last week by Foo Fighters.

The UK Top 10:

1. "Party Rock Anthem" - LMFAO *2 weeks*
2. "Unorthadox" - Wretch 32 feat. Example *new*
3. "On The Floor" - Jennifer Lopez feat. Pitbull
4. "Fast Car" - Tracy Chapman *new*
5. "Beautiful People" - Chris Brown feat. Benny Benassi
6. "Sweat" - Snoop Dogg
7. "E.T." - Katy Perry feat. Kanye West
8. "Just Can't Get Enough" - The Black Eyed Peas
9. "Judas'" - Lady Gaga
10. "Buzzin'" - Mann feat. 50 Cent

By CHRIS JOHNSON

Vision: Beyonce appears on the balcony at the Ritz Hotel in Paris yesterday where she was taking part in a photoshoot for Harper's Bazaar magazine

Imagine walking out on to your hotel balcony and there, beneath your eys, stood one of the most famous women on the planet.

That's what happened to one lucky guest at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, who was in prime position to whatch RnB megastar Beyonce take part in a photoshoot in the room below him.

Room with a view: A fellow hotel guest, clad in his dressing gown, appeared to be enjoying the view from above as he peered down from above

The portly gentleman, clad in a white dressing gown, feasted his eyes as the 29-year-old singer flaunted her killer curves in a sheer black dress.

If he had wanted a room with a view, he certainly got one.

Confident: In another pose the RnB megastar punches the air with her fist

Beyonce looked stunning in her ensemble as she turned on the glamour for the Harper's Bazaar shoot.

Her see-through black dress revealed her black underwear underneath, while her top half was decorated with a bloom of poppy-like red ruffles.

The former Destiny's Child star was also looking noticeably slimmer, having apparently shed weight in recent months.

Her slimline look was accentuated by her hairstyle, which was scraped back tightly against her head.

Changing shapes: Beyonce looks like she has shed the pounds in recent months, pictured far left looking super slim in Paris last week, looking fuller figured, right, in New York in November

The singer is currently in Paris to record a new song with Kanye West and possibly also start to prep the video for the tune, according to People.

She has been joined by her husband Jay-Z after the couple flew in last week by private jet.

During their time in the city they have enjoyed several romantic meals together with Beyonce also paying a visit to Disneyland Paris.

The pair reportedly are staying at an ultra-exclusive hotel in the French capital that costs a staggering $20,000 a night.
