After five years together, Ford asked for the former Ally McBeal star's hand in marriage on April Fool's Day, according to a report in Grazia magazine.Flockhart, who is more than 20 years younger than Ford, apparently took some convincing that it wasn't a joke, but is said to be thrilled at the prospect of a wedding.
Ford has been married twice. He married Mary Marquardt in 1964 and had two sons with her, Benjamin (born in 1967) and Willard (born in 1969). He married again, to Melissa Mathison. They had two children: a son, Malcolm (born in 1987), and a daughter, Georgia (born in 1990). Their subsequent divorce is one of the most expensive in Hollywood history, after a huge £100 million divorce settlement with ex-wife .
Flockhart has a son named Liam, 6.
