TomKat Host Scientology-Based Fundraiser

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes rolled into NYC last night to host a $6,250-a-head fundraiser for his controversial 9/11 detoxification program. Cruise is co-founder of the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project, based (of course) on principles of Scientology. The free treatment involves large doses of vitamins, dietary changes and regular trips to the sauna in order to treat rescue workers for exposure to the attack on the the unprecedented toxic exposures, beginning with a dust storm of pulverized concrete, steel, asbestos, carpeting, office equipment and other matter due to the collapse of the WTC towers.

Despite NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg's denouncement of the program as "not science" on Wednesday, Cruise received plenty of approval for the project. "He said how grateful he was to everyone for supporting the project," the president of NYC's paramedics and EMT union said of Cruise. "He took time out to speak to every person. It took him an hour to get through the hallway. He was talking to everyone. It was genuine, nothing phony about it."
