The Fix Up LA, Club Genre LA and Blogger's Delight NYC
It's kind of a quiet night, which is nice since it is a Monday and all. All's not quiet on the Western front (shout out to my bol Erich Remarque!) however, as two good-looking parties happen in Los Angeles. First up, we have the Fix Up party presented UNITED Tradeshow at Beauty Bar (1638 N. Cahuenga Blvd), which is also the official afterparty for Peter Bjorn and John's concert. The three lads are the special guests, not sure if they will DJ or what. I do know that resident DJ HIGHspeedDUB is spinning, as is special guests Young Americans, and they're really all you need. You also get photos by the most excellent Shadowscene, plus video by Viral Vector Media. All for the low low cost of free, just RSVP at the going.com site and get there early to make sure you can get in and you're all set.
-Over at Cinespace (6156 Hollywood Blvd.), it's Club Genre night with DJs S!n, Luv Tek, Zendo and Billy Noorlag. We've mentioned this one many times, but I'll give you the details just as a reminder. Free until 10:30, $5 for girls all night, $5 for guys until 11, then $10 after that, popdancegood music all night, photos by Neil Sharum. Let me just say that the guys took down the size of their fliers and it looks really nice. While they did not do this for me, it is a part of my ongoing quest to place the concept that size does not matter virally into the minds of people. Bigger is not better. Fliers that is, we're talking about fliers.
-Finally, back in New York City, the second edition of the new party called Blogger's Delight happens at the Knitting Factory (74 Leonard St.). Down in the Tap Bar, a blog curates a party each week, this week's line-up was done by the Disco Nap party and features a live set by The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart (one of the best band names ever!) and the first ever DJ set by the Disco Nap collective. No cover, starts at 8pm, a chance to hear new music anwd get out of your apartment and offline for a few hours. Hmm, there may be exciting news on this front, said the blogger writing this.
