Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is an English actress and model who rose to prominence playing Hermione Granger, one of three starring roles in the Harry Potter film series.

 Watson was cast as Hermione at the age of nine, having previously acted only in school plays.From 2001 to 2010, she starred in seven Harry Potter films alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint; she will return for the final installment: the second part of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Watson's work on the Harry Potter series has earned her several awards and more than £10 million.She made her modelling debut for Burberry's Autumn/Winter campaign in 2009.

In 2007, Watson announced her involvement in two non-Harry Potter productions: the television adaptation of the novel Ballet Shoes and an animated film, The Tale of Despereaux. Ballet Shoes was broadcast on 26 December 2007 to an audience of 5.2 million, and The Tale of Despereaux, based on the novel by Kate DiCamillo, was released in 2008 and grossed over US $70 million in worldwide sales.

The Hemp Revival

We love ethical fashion and are enjoying the rise and rise of hemp as a fabric. And we think the folds at the back at this Versace hemp-silk evening dress are just luscious!

Hemp has traditionally suffered because of its association with cannabis and hippies. Remarkably, the cultivation of the plant has been banned in America since the Fifties.


The fabric is sustainable, lasts longer, becomes softer and more comfortable the longer you use it. Those who suffer from allergies will love it as no pesticides are used in the farming of hemp. 

That’s in sharp contrast to many people's fabric of choice, cotton, which sucks up 50% of all pesticides used in farming in the United States – even though the crop only takes up 1% of farmland.  

In comparison to cotton, hemp is warmer in the winter, cooler in the summer and more durable. More and more designers are being drawn to hemp because of its low impact on the environment. Hemp fibres are known for being highly absorbent, UV resistant, antimicrobial and long-lasting.

It’s no surprise that the vegetarian Stella McCartney is at the forefront of those designers embracing hemp. These smashing espadrilles remind us of the summer days to come.

Versace, Donna Karan, Vera Wang, Armani and Ralph Lauren are all dabbling with the fabric. This outfit has all the distinctiveness of the Vera Wang touch. The American designer has used hemp-silk fabric to very fine effect here.

We're also keeping our eye on Enamore who produce eco-friendly underwear.

Linda Loudermilk is one of the leaders in ethical fashion. In fact, Elle magazine have dubbed her the 'Vivienne Westwood of eco'. Here's a sample of some of her work. Delightfully edgy is what we call it.

It also seems like U2 lead singer, Bono has roped his wife into his attempt to save the world. Ali Hewson has set up her own ethical label Edun.

A Fashion Trend To Embrace: Orange!

I love orange and can pull it off in most shades, even though not in makeup. Here are a couple of recent example  of orange dresses from the last couple of days:

The ever so lovely Emmy Rossum in J. Mendel (on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night), and Drew Barrymore in an inexplicable Jil Sander dress at the 50th Cover Girl anniversary party. I love the color, of course, but this cut is horrible. The two-toned hair also needs to go.

My own personal choice is the DVF Metro wrap dress in Sangria from Diane Von Furstenberg's 2010 Resort collection. I always pick a resort item or two when they go on sale this time of the year and save them for spring/summer, where they actually belong.

The Return Of The Matching Shoes

I don't know if this really signifies the return of the matchy-matchy style, and as a child of the '80s I'm not sure how I would feel if that was to happen. But as my mom who grew up in a more ladylike era would tell you, there's something to be said for a pulled-together look.

Heidi Klum paired her Victoria Beckham dress with a matching pair of teal pumps. Her hairstyle also works beautifully here. I've combed through several photos of Emma Watson from her Today Show appearance- in some of them her Sergio Rossi peep-toes look more beige and only match her Burberry trench (want!). In others they are more grey, like her Carven sweater dress (I suspect one needs to be Emma's age to pull of this collar). In any case, it's interesting.

Now, let's just hope we'll never see matching scrunchies and socks, OK?

Emma Watson is a $20 Million Girl

Emma Watson is sitting on a small $20 million dollar fortune thanks to Hermione Granger and yet she still manages to keep herself grounded.

The 18-year-old British actress, who stars voices Princess Pea in the upcoming The Tale of Despereaux, opens up to USA Today in a new interview. Check it!

On having a normal life: “I have a more normal life than people expect. When I take public transport, people are like, ‘That girl looks like the girl from Harry Potter, but it can’t be her on the tube.’”

On wealth: “The wealth side of it hasn’t hit me yet because I have no need for money in my life. I still live at home. I eat meals with my family every night. I don’t go out a huge amount. I don’t really travel a lot. My life will not be motivated by money. I will never do a film because they’re going to pay me a certain amount of money. It’s liberating,” she says. “It means that I can hopefully make great choices.”

On being a princess: “I felt really sorry for (her character, Princess Pea). I can’t imagine anything more lonely, just not being able to be part of the real world and being trapped and locked in hotel rooms and cars.”

On animated movies: “I loved The Little Mermaid. I really loved Pocahontas — she’s a free spirit, wild and bohemian. I’m a massive animated film fan. And now I have my own.”

Joe Jonas Inspired By Mick Jagger..

Joe Jonas is inspired by Sir Mick Jagger who is the lead singer of famous rock band Rolling Stones.
The 19-year-old Jonas Brothers frontman - who wears a purity ring as a sign of his pre-marriage chastity - says the womanising Rolling Stones singer is his musical hero and he tries to act like him on stage.
Joe said: "I would love to meet Mick Jagger. A lot of what I do on stage is inspired by Jagger. I love the way he performs and how he dances."

Even though Joe has a purity ring, the teen star admits he has crushes on several famous women.
Joe also revealed he hopes any future girlfriends understand that his work has to come first
The musician - whose brothers Kevin and Nick also abstain from sex - added: "I love Leona Lewis. I've been watching her video, she's gorgeous. I also like Natalie Portman, Emma Watson and Cheryl Cole. I like a lot of people."
