This might place me in the Victoria Beckham school of shoe philosophy, but my second thought when I saw this pair of Alexandre Birman Indigo Python wedges was: "looks so comfy!" (the first one was "Pretty! Want"). Between the ample wedge, the platform and the wide straps that can hold even the wonkiest of ankles (mine) in place, these Alexandre Birman sandals look as easy to wear as they're chic. Yes, that's my idea of reasonable shoes.

Timeless

Timeless shoes are a brand I had never heard of up until a few weeks ago when Mum and I treated ourselves to a pair of their sandals.
We both went for the Hathaway style (me in black, her in cream) and have agreed they are the comfiest sandals we own

Hathway Sandals, £35

I seem to be on a shoe binge right now, I'm for once lusting over footwear more than I am dresses, nail polish or even TIGHTS!

Here are a few more Timeless styles I have my beady eye on.

Heather Sandals, £47. Hathway have become my work shoe of choice, so I pretty much need these for my "play" shoes, right?

Bubble in Black, £22. Not my usual style but there is something quite endearing about these.

Bailey, £20. So what if I own several pairs of sandals in this style already? Mine are all brown/tan, black/silver would balance it out nicely.

Honey, £29. I wish I could explain why I covet these so much. They just seem so...comfortable and pretty damn awesome!

These are Alexander McQueen Butterfly shoes for spring/summer 2011. They were designed by McQueen's successor as the label's creative director, Sarah Burton, and are priced at £2,300 per pair. I wish they made prints of these shoes so I could buy them to decorate my dressing room.

These Valentino wedge sandals might be the summer statement shoes I've been after lately. I'm a little worried the embellishment might be a bit too much, but I wear a lot of light neutrals in summer that could stand a little extra spice, even if it's green and punkish. And you rarely go wrong with Valentino.

Leighton Meester Country Strong Premier

Here's Leighton Meester at the Los Angeles premier of Country Strong. I like her red lipstick, and really, she's so pretty she can get away even with a weather-inappropriate dress, like this Dior Spring 2011. I mean, seriously, it's still December even in L.A., and while I'd kill for their weather right now, it's still not exactly spring. In any case, she's lovely and her face doesn't betray the foot pain she's probably feeling in her Pierre Hardy sandals:

The Return Of The Matching Shoes

I don't know if this really signifies the return of the matchy-matchy style, and as a child of the '80s I'm not sure how I would feel if that was to happen. But as my mom who grew up in a more ladylike era would tell you, there's something to be said for a pulled-together look.

Heidi Klum paired her Victoria Beckham dress with a matching pair of teal pumps. Her hairstyle also works beautifully here. I've combed through several photos of Emma Watson from her Today Show appearance- in some of them her Sergio Rossi peep-toes look more beige and only match her Burberry trench (want!). In others they are more grey, like her Carven sweater dress (I suspect one needs to be Emma's age to pull of this collar). In any case, it's interesting.

Now, let's just hope we'll never see matching scrunchies and socks, OK?
